I can tell you got so very much from that week.Funny you should mention the "hands on" approach. I learned and fell in love with photography (many) years ago, long before digital was even a glimmer in someones eye. As such, ALL my images were printed, handled, cut, pasted, carried around, shared and loved in the physical sense. My bedroom walls were covered, I mean 100% covered, in photos. It is very much another aspect to the art, being able to smell and feel your images, rather than just see them.I'd really love to catch up for a coffee and hear all about your workshop sometime if you are keen?

This is the closest I've come to formal photography education myself. I was totally sh*tting myself when I walked into the room on Monday.Yes it was a 5 day workshop, and the point of us sticking stuff to walls and throwing them around on floors: play around with different visual narratives until we found one that worked for us for the projection later that night (at FotoFreo's official opening).Some of us had narratives that included captions as well, some of us didn't. All about finding the flow that works for you and your pictures. It's a very freeform, organic sort of process.

After reading your posts I will definitely consider making time for one (FotoFreo 2012?) lol although I'm sure I'll be even more nervous than you! Isn't it strange after so many years photographing for myself and others that it's still hard to think of myself as a "real" photographer!Were you there for a whole week Charlene? And can I ask what was the point in sticking your photos to a wall with blue tack and watching them – I'm sure you were training yourself to observe something in particular?
