Stormy inspiration
by charlene
I must have watched this video about 10 times back to back when I saw Flemming‘s Twitter post. Struck dumb by the entire production – the subject matter, images, edit (as always) and the sheer power that its soundtrack lends.
Amazing stuff indeed. Really powerful.
I have to confess…parts of it made me feel seasick! What a weak landlubber I am.
I have never been on seas that large and I have to say it’s amazing what it’s doing to big strapping boats. So much of it reminds me of that Perfect Storm film.
I’m in awe, and watching it yet again as i type this :D
wow! that is amazing, how did he even get that footage?
i literally have no words!
I have been trying to figure out the production all morning. No idea, but hats off!
thats incredible! I’ve sailed in a few ‘big’ seas and it’s amazing, if a bit scary. That navy boat though, tossed about like a little toy – that must be disgustingly uncomfortable!
Disgustingly uncomfortable. Heh. And then some i’d imagine! Good film though eh? Makes you want to run straight out and make one like it, dramatic seas, disgustingly uncomfortable boats and all…
Wow. Thanks for bring that to my attention – incredible. Makes my recent wave post seem rather puny :)
Heh, yeah that’s pretty far from a tropical beach i gotta say. Good thing too!
Woah! Those are some big waves. I wondered about the production as well. Amazing stuff! Thanks for sharing it, Charlene.
No worries Brian :)
incredible, very nicely put together isn’t it, builds up to those amazing scenes at the end. Something about navy ships being out there in weather like that, don’t know what it is but it’s incredible. there’s some cool one’s on youtube if you search stormy sea’s and stuff. one has a helicopter being hit pretty bad on the deck of an aircraft carrier! wowsers!
I watched quite a few of these on YouTube, including the one you’ve posted here. Pretty damn insane for something the size of a carrier to be tossing around like that.
Bering sea on a good day in December/January is what it feels like.
Yeah i did notice it wasn’t particularly stormy or anything. Can’t imagine being there
It is a rather amazing video, the production must have cost a bit of motion sickness I would presume! The shot of the destroyer disappearing completely in between waves is unreal!
I’d be even more impressed if I found out the production crew were seasick. That’d make the going significantly harder!
It is very unreal. Ah, to experience this for myself!
That is insane, amazing, incredible…Cant even imaging holding on let alone filming….
Hehehe, tell me about it! Steady hands, the cameraman has :D Thanks for stopping by Peta :)
