Nordjylland, Danmark
I’m a city slicker. I can never quite believe scenes like this:
There were dark skies over Nordjylland, and rundballer (round hay bales) in the fields when we arrived on the weekend. The rain eased a day or so later, and a fresh week started with blazing blue sunshine, fields shorn of crop and cargo.
We had a full day of summer mania: running down the road towards combines gilding the air with harvest, living summer as large as we could.

Grenen i Skagen, Nordjylland, Danmark
Yesterday was a slip slop slap1 kind of day. I didn’t expect to be ducking sunburn in September in Denmark, but we – Flemming, his sister Vibeke, their Dad and I – were well toasted by lunchtime.
But the weather blew in as we started the walk up to the tip of Grenen, where the seas of Skagerrak and Kattegat converge. Suddenly sunk in its famous painter’s light, we watched whitecaps collide, on the spit birthed by this eternal clash.
Then we too braved the tumult for a picture with the dancing water.

Denmark has sun?
It was remarkably California-like… for 2 hours ;)
