Hospital skin

I walk past Royal Perth Hospital on the way to the bus station in the city, from work and vice versa. I’ve been walking by it for years now, and it never ceases to make me think of some gargantuan, post-apocalyptic machine from an 80′s sci fi flick. There is something about its unforgiving geometry, the flat lines and the grey-brownness of its outer walls that i imagine belongs to a long dormant mothership awaiting activation and recall to the home planet, where it will take all the biological knowledge of humankind that the hospital has to offer.
